An Year Old, How Much Has Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan Actually Grown?

“Cleanliness is next to Godliness”.
All of us read, mugged, reproduced and scored marks, but handful of us followed. Ever wondered till October 2, 2014? No. But fortunately, one man did and subsequently made us think too. Mr. Narendra Modi swept everyone off their feet and quite literally this time, with a laudable “Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan”. Now, as we stand a year and 25 days later; I, Nanuram Kumawat, ask you all a question. How much have things changed? WALK around the city, and I emphasize on walk for a reason. Notice the number of plastic bottles strewn around as you stroll and the number of times you had to do a swift Michael Jackson move because an uncle wanted to ‘take the world and paint it red’. If this counting seems tough, let’s discuss the last dustbin you noticed, and if at all a beauty was spotted, how clean was the masterpiece from outside?

As a leader and a part of the system, I cannot help but wonder, why keeping the city clean is so difficult? If one can make an effort to keep his or her house clean, the same can be done for the city. This discrimination and disassociation seems hurtful. The nation belongs equally to Narendra Modi, as much it belongs to Nanuram Kumawat or any other person, politician or not.

Remember, every clumsily thrown wrapper blots your progress and every time you spit, the future is stained. This task does not need an idol rather requires an initiative. We need to work collectively as a unit as it’s not a one man’s responsibility.

Notice well enough and you will see, sanitation constitutes 90% of sanity. I, Nanuram Kumawat, urge you all to pledge with me again towards a cleaner India. Together we can make the difference a dynamo.
